2023 Division Changes

Beginning with the 2023 Fall Season, GVYF is adopting an age-based division structure. Players will be placed in the appropriate division based on their age on the cut-off date for School District 51 (8/31/2023). The divisions shall be: 13 to 14 years old (14U), 11 to 12 years old (12U), 9 to 10 years old (10U), and 7 to 8 years old (8U). 

Much discussion went into making this change and we feel that it will provide the best experience for our athletes for several reasons:

• This change aligns us with national organizations such as AAU and USA Football in creating divisions based on age alone.
• This allows for future opportunities for exhibition play with other leagues should the interest arise.
• With a two-year age gap in every division, players will play for the same team for two years before moving up. We believe that this will keep players together and allow them to build a strong sense of team from season to season.
•  Team sizes have been a consistent point of contention in recent years. We've provided the numbers below, but with the new structure we are able to achieve a higher number of teams in most divisions and a fairer distribution of players.
